Weapons equip Agents with the fire power they will need to get to and take down their targets. Agents start with a Primary and Secondary slot. Agents can get another slot with the Wetcorp: Weapon Slot and the Soldier can gain an additional slot by taking a 4th rank in Pack Mule.
Weapon Types
Ballistic - These do roughly equal damage to Health, Armor, and Shield hit points.
Laser - These fire packets of electrons, making them very effective against shields and drones (just drone health points). Really an electron gun rather than a laser. Also the most accurate weapon type.
Plasma - These work best against armor, but fare poorly against shields.

Unclear Weapon Stats
When looking at a weapon's stats under the Weapons page, most of them are very clear, such as Damage vs. Shield. Two of them, however, could be labeled better:
Damage should probably be labeled "Damage vs. Organics" but that's not too hard to figure out.
Damage vs. Inorganics only affects the health of inorganics. Their shields and armor use the weapon's Damage vs. Shields and Damage vs. Armor stats. As such, this stat would be better listed directly under Damage.
