Research

ScientistTrackerIcon Research is a means of unlocking Augmentations, Weapons, and Gear.

Overview[ | ]

[!] Missions will often reward the player with either Blueprints or Prototypes for any of the Augmentations, Weapons, and Gear.

Blueprints will instantly allow the player to purchase as many of the item as they need.

Prototypes grant an immediate use item to equip on an Agent for free, but if the agent dies with it, the prototype is lost. Alternatively, researching the prototype will create a blueprint to reproduce the item from, ensuring that it will be remade when agents respawn.

Black Market[ | ]

Prototypes are also often available from the Black Market. The Balck Market can be found in the "Mission Control/Project: Satellite Reign/Black Market Dealer." New prototypes will become available as the game progresses. Prices in the $9,000 to $20,000 range.

Our old friend, Mitch Clifford, has shown his ugly face again. I don't know how he does it, but he always manages to get his hands on some sweet tech.
The prototypes he has for sale aren't cheap, so it's up to you if you think it's worth it to just pay for the goods or head out into the city and see what we can find for ourselves.
Either way, I suggest you check back with him from time to time and see what he has for sale.

Research 101[ | ]

If there is a prototype the player wishes to keep around and use with multiple agents, then they may choose to research the item. In the Research menus, with the prototype selected, pressing the "RESEARCH" button will begin the process. A red line graph will appear on the right at a 45° angle. The graph starts at $0 and 0 Time. the top left will show the minimum cost the item would take and the bottom right will show the max time to research. Items have a minimum number of researchers required, from 1 to 9. Researchers on staff will first be assigned to the project at $2/second per staff. If more researchers are needed, Outsoursed Staff will be assigned at $3/second per staff. The player may choose to add more staff at any time. This will increase the cost per second and the total cost of the research, but reduce the time. The item will be unavialable until research is complete. The Research may be paused anytime, but once the project begins, the item is unavailable until completion.

Multiple items may be researched at the same time. Every item being worked on will have a green progess bar. Completed items will have a white bar. Paused items will have an orange bar. The total cost per second will show in the above the graph's top right corner.

If the player's funds deplete, any research will stall, but continue until completed.

Research Staff[ | ]

The number of research staff is noted in the top right, next to the player's funds. A larger staff will help keep the cost of research down as outsourcing. Using World Scan World Scan (or get lucky by hovering over a random civilian) the player can find VIP's that will have the ScientistTrackerIcon Research emblem next to their health bar. Once identified, they player can send any agent to bribe the researcher into joining the player's "Staff." The total current staff are indicated next to the player's current cash.

    • Some [!] Missions will grant a free researcher
    • A researcher on the street must be bribed for $200 to ($1000) to join the team
